Droste Effect


The image was made of a backlight Rose of Sharon flower just after a brief shower. The photo was gently post processed in LightRoom 3.

The adjusted photo was edited in Photoshop CS5 using the new Adobe Pixel Bender plug-in and the Droste filter.

The Droste effect is a recursive picture within a picture – repeating the image element multiple times inside each other. The effect first used by an Italian artist of religious picture┬áin the 12th century. The effect has been used countless times to the present.
