My Gear

In case you are interested in my gear (as opposed to my images) here is the obligatory list:

Camera and Lenses

  • Canon 40D (hardly the latest, but still makes great images – never use it now)
  • Canon Digital Rebel 300D (I converted this to infrared and it is fun to use)
  • Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (a great “walk-around” lens, sharp and not expensive)
  • Canon 50 f1.8 (one of the sharpest and least expensive lenses you will ever use)
  • Canon 100 f2.8 Macro (fantastic lens for close-up and macro photography)
  • Canon 28-135 IS (an ancient lens but still works for me is certain situations)

  • Canon 300L f4 IS (my go-to lens for birds and butterflies – a great L lens)
  • Canon 1.4 extender (specifically designed for “L” lenses so it works well)
  • Canon G12 (a fun but serious compact camera that takes fine images)
  • Olympus OMD EM5 Mark II (super camera for travel and general purpose; very light, small and easy to use – wonderful image stabilization system to go with wonderful images) – my go to camera for everything digital. Who knows what the future might bring …

  • Olympus 17 f1.8 lens (very small and lightweight equivalent to 34mm)
  • Olympus 40-150 lens (unbelievably small and light for a telephoto lens equivalent to 80mm-300mm)
  • Olympus 75-300mm lens (light weight and compact super telephoto – goes to the 35mm equivalent of 600mm).
  • Olympus 60mm macro (light weight fab lens for both portraits and macro with a nice focus limiter and the equivalent of 120mm).
