Bokeh

Specular Bokeh

Bokeh is the “rendition of out of focus points of light”. The camera lens produces these out of focus points of light as more or less circular based on the shape of the aperture and lens element’s characteristics. Depending on the lens, bokeh may be pleasing or harsh.

This image was created using the Canon 28-135 lens at 85mm de-focused at the specular highlights of the Atlantic Ocean at Jones Beach.

If you click on the image, you will see the hexagonal lights which capture the aperture of the lens.
