Trees display as white in infrared. What about other green vegetation? This cactus is a shade of green and has a white range.
The detail is often lost but sometimes elements of the plant can be seen where they do not show up easily in visible light.

A note about the masthead: the image was taken on the Brooklyn Bridge at dusk using a slow shutter speed to illustrate the movement of the vehicles and the streaming of their headlights.
