The pupa has hardened and will stay this way until it turns black in about a week. This is an indictor that the butterfly is about to reveal itself.
You can now clearly see the gold and black “beads” around the upper half of the chrysalis. Some people even make jewelry that looks like this stage.
But I have a big problem: we will be away on the weekend and Murray may hatch by then. So, I may actually take him with me (plus the camera equipment) and hope that I can capture the next stages of his development.
